There is no more emotive "green" issue than the use of timber.
Hardwood products - unlike synthetic alternatives - come from renewable resources which in the main can be regrown in a human life span.
The manufacture of hardwood products utilises substantially less energy than their synthetic alternatives.
BOEN has never knowingly procured anything other than from properly managed and sustainbale sources.
Reforestation all over the world is a major concern of BOEN and the Johan G. Olsen Group. The group annually contributes 100 times its consumption of wood through its daughter companies.
3-ply construction utilise the hardwood well, given the fact that only the wearlayer (appr. 1/3 of the product) is from "slow growing" forest. 2/3 of the product is fast growing soft wood.
By-products of production of hardwood floors and its use
Minimum waste is producted during the manufacture of BOEN floors.
No production of toxic by-products
The only by-product from manufacture is sawdust and wood chip. This is fully utilised in the factories' kilns to produce heat and hot water or is incorporated into other timber based productes.
Adhesives and lacquers are specifically selected to ensure that no toxic gases or similar by-products are produced.
All by-products in maintaining/cleaning are deposited in seperate containers and transported to destruction units.
FSC Certification
The FSC certificate is a recognized guidance for the counsumer. It ensures that the flow of the products have been verified, from the forest to the point of sale.
BOEN Dominga Mill has been certified as a SmartWood Chain-of-Custody company. That means that the flow of FSC certified forest products has been verified through the supply chain, from the forest to the point of sale.
The FSC-label and the SmartWood certification endure the consumer and the manufacturing companies that the products wearing the label originated from certified forests.
